The Mental Health Things You Need To Know

This is my first blog post in a while about mental health, so I thought I’d make it a list type blog of basic things you need to know!

  • Emotional intelligence is important to a happy and positive life
  • Everyone experiences bad mental health at some point in their life
  • If you haven’t experienced, don’t try and dictate how someone deals with it
  • Help and support those suffering around you
  • Always be a shoulder to cry on, but know when to take time out
  • Always make me-time
  • Do what you need to do to be happy
  • Know that outbursts and issues from other people are a reflection on them and not you
  • Don’t do anything that makes you uncomfortable
  • Get help as soon as you need it
  • Life will always throw curve balls at you, do the best to tackle them
  • Don’t let people dictate how you grieve
  • Don’t let people dictate your life
  • Always have a hobby, that way you can’t ruminate on negative things and you’re always occupied!
  • Use your words and say what you mean
  • If you don’t understand aspects of your mental health: research research research
  • Be open about what’s going on, no one can read your mind
  • Learn to understand communication, it actually really helps
  • Keep busy, the more spare time you have the more you will ruminate
  • Psychologists are amazing
  • Depression and anxiety are real, don’t underestimate them
  • Depression is more than sadness and anxiety is more than nervousness
  • Music can be equally helpful and unhelpful
  • If someone brings up the conversation about your mental health, take note of it
  • Don’t take out your issues on someone else
  • Listen to your internal vibes, they know what’s up
  • Speak up
  • Have tonnes of quotes for any mood you’re in

And lastly….

I can’t stress this enough: DON’T TAKE ANYONES SHIT PERSONALLY.
